Liposuction

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction which has been applied for many years in Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive surgery , is an operation to redesign the face and body contour by removing excess fat cells from the face and body area. Although liposuction, popularly known as a liposuction procedure , is generally thought of as an aesthetic solution option for regional lubrication problems, it is also a surgical procedure used in the treatment of gynecomastia , which occurs in the form of abnormal growth in breast tissues in men, and lipedema , which is defined as painful lubrication syndrome .

It is not considered a correct approach to associate the regional adiposity problem only with obesity . In normal limits, regional fat deposits can be observed in people with ideal weight, which will disrupt the body proportion. Therefore, it should be noted that liposuction is not a slimming and weight control procedure. The purpose of this application is to remove unwanted stubborn fat from the face and body area.

There may be some areas where body fat is stored and resisted, not only during the processes where weight control is attempted, but also due to genetic factors. Although it varies according to the body structure of the person, the areas where the fats hold tightly can be listed as follows:

  • Tummy
  • Hips and hips
  • Thighs and calves
  • Shoulder upper arm area
  • Upper leg
  • Tickled
  • Neck
  • Breast

As in every plastic surgery operation, there are cases where liposuction surgery can and cannot be applied.

Expectations and demands should be discussed openly with the plastic surgeon, and all details regarding the general health status should be shared completely.

Which Techniques Are Used in Liposuction Surgery?

Before deciding with which technique the surgery will be performed, it is determined on which part of the body the lubrication is concentrated and the complaint is made.

Liposuction surgeries can be performed with three different techniques in general.

1- Traditional Technique: It is a method performed by removing fat from the body with the help of thin cannulas .

2- Ultrasonic Technique: It is a method of absorbing fat cells that are softened with the support of ultrasonic vibrations.

3- Laser Technique: It is the process of absorption of fat cells, which are liquefied by laser beams, with thin cannulas.

Liposuction surgeries may vary depending on the surgical technique to be used and the area to be applied. The surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia.

What is the Recovery Process After Liposuction Surgery?

Liposuction surgery, the patient can be discharged on the same day after resting a little, or it may require 1 night hospitalization. This situation varies depending on the anesthesia method used in the surgery and whether it is applied to more than one area. The patient can continue his daily life and go to work within an average of 1 week. This period may be shorter or longer depending on the patient’s postoperative recovery. An average of 6 weeks can be mentioned for full recovery. The most important issue in the recovery process after liposuction surgery is the use of corsets. After the surgery, special corsets should be used as recommended by the doctor and for the duration. Depending on the surgery , the pain that may occur in the first few days can be controlled with painkillers. It is necessary to wait at least three days for the first bath after the surgery.
