  • Quitting Smoking: Smoking poses a risk, especially for surgeries that will be performed under general anesthesia. It slows down the wound healing process after surgery. For this reason, it is strongly requested to quit smoking at least 2 weeks before the operation.
  • Medications Used : The patient should give complete information to his doctor about the medications he regularly uses at the first interview stage. Which drugs are used is an important information for the planning stage of the breast reduction procedure, because the doctor may want to suspend the use of some drugs that will risk the operation process, if necessary. In addition, it should be noted that blood thinners should not be used before surgery as they increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Postoperative Hygiene: Lack of hygiene increases the risk of post-operative infection. The most important issue for the patient is to keep the surgical area sterile.
  • Wound Care: Another issue to be considered in order to reduce the risk of infection is wound care after surgery. The doctor’s instructions should be followed meticulously, and the wound care procedure should be applied without ignoring the hygiene condition.

After breast reduction surgery, it is recommended that the patient wait about 2 weeks to recover and return to his daily life and work. It is necessary to avoid strenuous physical activities for 3 to 6 weeks. As in every breast surgery, a medical corset is used in breast reduction surgery.

As with all aesthetic treatments, one of the most curious subjects of breast reduction surgery is about how the new appearance will be. Complaints related to physical symptoms such as back and neck pain, which develop depending on the size of the breast and the degree of sagging, are expected to disappear with the surgery. The breast reduction procedure, which shapes the breasts to be more proportional and measured on the body, compensates for the lack of self-confidence caused by aesthetic concerns and offers satisfactory results in terms of alleviating not only physical but also psychological burdens.
